A father, writer, teacher, and Topoanalyst.
I AM Agrippa A. AbSholom.
Fatherhood has brought a particular question into focus for me: What can I give my children that will remain useful when I am no longer there to explain it? The ability to observe. To question. To understand what they have received and decide what to do with it.
That question carries into my writing, my research, and the things I build.
I study the relationship between thought and the places we inhabit. A house. A garden. A classroom. The spaces we make within ourselves. I am interested in how these places shape our understanding—and how our understanding changes what we build.
My work moves through philosophy, poetry, spiritual traditions, history, art, and the practical work of cultivating something. I follow connections across them, returning to ideas as experience gives me another way to see.
Through Fig | Olive, I explore what we carry, what we give, and what returns changed by its journey. Through Architectonic Cognition, I am developing an approach to learning that brings knowledge into relationship: students read, question, make, test, and return to their work with greater understanding.
My Father’s House gives these pursuits a home. Black House Art Gallery is its creative face. Kujenga Advanced Learning Academy is its mansion for learning. Each has work of its own to do.
This site is where I share that work as it develops: essays, observations, images, questions, and things taking form. Some are ready to stand. Others still require pruning.
I invite you to read closely. Consider what you recognize. Question what you don’t. There is room here for a conversation.
